The winner of fitness gadget of the summer is my double-walled, insulated steel water bottle.
I know that may have let some of you readers down, but hear me out. I would have never bought one these for myself. I used to have an old plastic water bottle that was once part of a Costco three pack. It was very loyal but didn't have much to offer in terms of flash. I used it to cart tepid water between home and work for many years. I dropped it on the floor on one of my last days of work and it shattered. I was sad to see it go.
However, my wife was kind enough to replace it with one of these forty-ounce marvels. If you've never used on before, get on it. I can't believe that I missed out for so long.
One of the greatest things about this is that it keeps water ice cold. I know that there are some out there in the health world who claim that cold water is bad and room temperature is the way to go. Go ahead and keep your opinions. I love cold water.
Another big plus is the sheer volume it holds. My old plastic bottle carried maybe twenty ounces. I've doubled that with this little marvel.
I hate plastic water bottles. They're a giant waste in so many ways. I have a water filter on my refrigerator that serves my needs just fine. I can have water with me all the time without the bottle water waste.
It is bulk, which means that I don't carry it out on the trail. However, I do have it with me everywhere else. I would be willing to bet that I have doubled my water consumption this summer just because this thing fell into my hands. I love it.
